Keeping children safe can take the form of teaching children and supporting them to;
- keep themselves safe and healthy
- recognise and manage risk
- develop healthy habits
- learn about sex and relationships
- be aware of online safety including grooming
- deal with conflict and bullying
- develop positive attitudes

Safeguarding is also concerned with issues of child protection and keeping children safe from environmental harm or harm from others which might take the form of;
- neglect, emotional and physical
- sexual abuse
- physical abuse
- grooming for sexual purposes
